So, I watched Dragonball Evolution. Now that I've seen it, I've got just one question:

WHY? Why god, why?

Why couldn't they stick with the original plot? Why replace a good story with a bad one? The whole school-romance subplot was completely unnecessary. And I just can't see the logic behind the alterations of the general plot. It might have made the movie a tad bit longer to follow the original story, but it might have actually been good. And if Mai in a leather catsuit was what we wanted, we could've still had it if we had Pilaf.
I'm not really critisizing the actor choices. Justin Chatwin made a pretty cute Goku, and Joon Park was a slightly awkward and arrogant Yamcha, not bad at all. The acting isn't the problem here.
The only level the movie worked in was as a curiosity. I imagine that if someone watched it just as a movie, unfamiliar with DB, they'd just find it a very bad movie.
The newly stitched frankenstein of a plot was unfinished and rushed, and at some point I had to stop counting the huge holes. The obligatory plot twist was indeed shockingly well explained. "Btw, you're actually a huge rabid monkey." "Noes!"
They could've at least tried to include the idea of Saiyans and explain the monkey-thing with it, but apparently they couldn't be bothered with that.

Master Roshi wasn't pervy enough, he groped Bulma like once and had a bikini-magazine. *rolls eyes* Also, Piccolo is supposed to be green, not some kinda weird shade of grey-ish turqoise, damnit.

On the other side, the capsule technology looked cool. The dragonballs looked cool. So did Shenlong. With visuals like that, they could've made a decent adaptation of DB, but instead they decided to rape the plot. Oh well.
